Brexit Advisory Sessions

Brexit Advisory Sessions

Local Enterprise Office Louth has launched Brexit Advisory Sessions to help Louth businesses ensure they are fully prepared for Brexit as the deadline grows ever closer. We are encouraging businesses to be pro-active in their preparations and have the assistance of expert business advisors to support you.The one-to-one mentoring sessions are designed to help businesses plan and take immediate action to effectively mitigate the risks and avail of the opportunities posed by Brexit, increasing a business's resilience and competitiveness, irrespective of the outcome.

We are encouraging companies to develop their capabilities in three specific areas:

Supply Chain & Logistics

What if your key suppliers are based in the UK and their costs increase 20-30% due to potential new excise duties? Understanding and reviewing your sourcing arrangements to reduce costs, increase efficiency and identify alternative suppliers will assist your business.

Labour Mobility

As with many businesses based in the county, a proportion of your staff might need to cross the border to simply get to and from work in the morning and for others who work at different locations throughout the day, this might become an issue. Will your staff retain their entitlements to pensions, social welfare etc? Will staff need to carry passports? The answers to these and any other questions on the topic could be answered by talking to an expert in the field.

Customs Taxation & VAT

Do you purchase supplies or move goods across to Northern Ireland and/or the UK? If do, you need to be prepared. There are options from Revenue that are available to make the customs process more efficient. Some areas to consider are:

  • How to clasify goods
  • How to establish the origin of goods
  • How to qualify for free Trade agreements
  • How to complete Import & Export Entries
  • Terms of Trade
  • Obtaining authorization for Deferred Payment of Customs & VAT
  • Customs Warehousing
  • Import VAT Issues
  • Impact on cashflow within businesses

With the deadline looming ever closer for Brexit, it is time to make sure your business is fully protected and that you are aware of how it might be affected.
